Olivia Hairston

Olivia Hairston, singer/songwriter was born in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Samuel W. and Geraldine Hairston who were both great musicians. Olivia grew up surrounded by music and sang in the church choir at an early age. She wrote her first song when she was only three years old.

Olivia graduated from Mansfield Senior High in 1987 where she was considered a talented member of the high school choir. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Music from Bowling Green State University. While at BGSU she performed various roles such as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi and Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte. She also won the NATS Competition in her category on both the state and national levels. Olivia has sung various genres of music including: Classical, Jazz, R & B, Gospel and Pop. Her most beloved music is the music she writes because the songs are inspired by the Creator and are written to liberate, uplift and transform the soul.

Oh Ancestors! (CD)

Oh Ancestors! is a 3 song CD that contains all original compositions written by Olivia. She has traveled throughout the Midwest performing these selections for Dr. Ray Hagins, Pastor of the Afrikan Village in St. Louis, MO. Olivia has a writing style that is unique and all her own. While her music crosses many different genres it posesses elements of Jazz, R&B, and Adult Contemporary to name a few.
